Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted the maiden flight of “Lijian-1” Rocket (ZK-1A) at 12:12 on July 27, 2022 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. According to the report, it carried six satellites into the pre-set orbit including two test satellites of electromagnetic assembly. The launch mission was a complete success. The high power density photonic crystal laser developed by the team of Zheng Wanhua, an academician of the Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, has been launched into the orbit together with the two test satellites of electromagnetic assembly as the micro-propulsion laser light source of the “laser micro-propulsion system”. Such laser micro-propulsion system is jointly developed by Academician Zheng Wanhua’s team and the team of Cai Jian, a researcher of the Institute of Microelectronics, CAS.
